Questions To Ask Your Dentist

Questions To Ask Your Dallas Dentist

Your smile is important to you, and at Shwarts Family Dentistry in Richardson it’s our job to help keep it clean and healthy. We encourage all our patients, from newcomers to those who have been with us for years, to bring questions about their smiles to each and every checkup.

In this article we’re going to describe some of the most common questions we get.

  • How Can I Improve My Smile? This is one of the most common, and it’s a really good one. The answer is not going to be the same for every patient, of course. If you’re already in good dental health, we can talk about what cosmetic dentistry procedures may be best, like teeth whitening or porcelain veneers. If your dental health has room for improvement, we can talk about, which leads us to the next common question.
  • What Should My Daily Dental Health Routine Be? Your at-home care is probably the most important part of your dental health regimen. We recommend, strongly, brushing your teeth at least twice a day. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush and fluoridated toothpaste. Brush for at least two minutes, gently and thoroughly. Right after breakfast and just before bed are good times. Don’t forget to floss!
  • Do I Have Any Dental Health Conditions I Should Know About? If you do, we’ll see them and tell you – but it’s still good to ask. Think of it as a conversation-starter. If there are issues, we can talk about treatment plans.
  • How Often Should I Have a Checkup? There is no hard-and-fast answer for this. As a rule of thumb we recommend every six months. Some patients can go longer between checkups, while others may need to see us more often, especially if there are ongoing issues and treatment.

These are the most common, but there are others. We encourage you to bring your dental health questions to every checkup. Patient education is an important part of what we do. People come to Shwarts Family Dentistry in Richardson from Richardson, Plano, and Prestonwood for general and cosmetic dentistry. Please call our office to schedule your next appointment today!
